CFOs, controllers & FP&A teams
CFO Agent
BuiltFinance analysis at agent speed, with every figure traceable to the query that produced it.
The challenge
Finance is where a hallucinated number does the most damage. Teams want help with variance analysis, forecasting and reporting, but they can't accept an assistant that does arithmetic in a language model.
Our approach
The CFO Agent treats the model as an analyst that knows which questions to ask. It doesn't calculate. Ledger, AP/AR and budget data are queried through validated, read-only SQL tools, and every figure in a narrative is tied to the query behind it. Anything that would move money or leave the finance team goes to an approval queue.
Architecture
A supervisor and its specialists.
Finance Orchestrator
Takes a question like "why did Q3 opex miss?" and plans the analysis.
Variance Analyst
Runs budget-vs-actual and period-over-period queries and explains the drivers.
Cash & Forecast
Produces rolling cash views from deterministic models, with the model version stamped on the output.
Spend Monitor
Flags duplicate invoices, out-of-policy spend and vendor anomalies for review.
Reporting
Drafts management and board commentary grounded only in the retrieved figures.

Guardrails, enforced structurally
- Read-only access to financial systems by default
- All arithmetic happens in SQL. The model narrates, it doesn't calculate
- Each figure links back to its query and data snapshot
- Payments, journal entries and external sends require human approval
- Segregated identities per data domain (GL, AP, payroll)
What it changes
- Faster month-end commentary and variance explanations
- Board-ready narratives where every number can be audited
- Anomalies surfaced for review instead of discovered at audit
